March 12, 2010 at 8 Pm Clarence Burke Lead Singer Of "The Stairsteps" will be performing "Live, Up-close and Personal" at The Key Club 58 Park Pl. Newark, N.J.
It all started when Fred Cash of "The Impressions" brought "The Stairsteps" to the attention of Curtis Mayfield (of the Impressions) who then brought "The Stairsteps" to the attention of the world.
Clarence Burke The Lead singer of "The Five Stairsteps" AKA "The First Family Of Soul" recorded many hits such as WORLD OF FANTASY, YOU WAITED TOO LONG, DANGER SHES A STRANGER, COME BACK, and the multi- million seller hit "OOH CHILD" before taking a short break. Then the group joined together with the late great "BILLY PRESTON" and "GEORGE HARRISON" to record their last studio album "STAIRSTEPS 2nd RESURRECTION" which was recorded on George Harrison's Dark horse Record Label. Many have commented on the greatness of that album but have never gotten the chance to see it performed live. After a 30-year hiatus, the time is more than right for an exciting step back to the forefront.
The BURKES have always been known for their powerful live performances as described by other entertainers and fans alike. CLARENCE is now ready to take that step re-connecting "The First Family Of Soul" (STAIRSTEPS) to their audience, now for the first time in many years Clarence Burke Jr. is performing before a live audience.
